Are We Really Moving?
There is a need to work together, to catch up, before it's too late!
I wrote about our school systems full accreditation, recently, and I was truly pleased for our upward movement. Let's be real, in today's world our rate of growth will not hold up in the real world; (virtually every district south and west of us kicked our educational endeavors again, Clayton, Lindbergh, Ladue, Brentwood, Webster Groves, Kirkwood, Parkway, Rockwood, etc.) the only schools we out performed, St. Louis, Normandy, Riverview, Jennings, etc., are majority Black. This disparity is not the real world and our children are going to have to live and survive in it! As adults we can pat ourselves on our backs and feel good, but this is no time to not be mindful of our children's plight, Caucasians and Blacks.
America has fallen behind academically and continues to. We must stop hating each other and realize "A house divided against itself cannot stand" (Abraham Lincoln speaking about the Civil War). If we look around us, conditions are pretty much similar to what they were then, in my opinion, and getting worse!
