Are Respondents Afraid?

Having lived in America for over seventy years, I have encountered segregation in schools and housing and in other ways. I have seen a lot of changes made, most for the better. I have not, directly, encountered the Ku Klux Klan but I see some remnants when people hide their identies by using aliases or parts of their names. I am sure some do it with no evil intent, but others want to hide their identities, not to stand behind their opinions. "Patch believes in transparency, and we ask that all your registration information be truthful. You may not use aliases or other means to mask your identity." 

This stated registration policy seems to clarify a policy of if you are afraid, don't say it, or at the least you have to use your full name.

Diversity calls for people that live in a community to concern themselves about how others may receive some things that they do, even with no evil intentions. If I were to use my first name (Holston) only, I could be easily identified because there are only two that I know of. Most people have first names much more common and thus first names, only, hide their identity.

I hope people try to be respectful of others and stand for what you believe without a deliberate attempt to hide (under white sheets) are using aliases or partial names.
