Fourth of July: What's Open, Closed Around University City

As the University City area celebrates the Fourth of July with this long weekend, many local businesses are changing their hours to give employees a holiday break.

The following is a list of what Patch found to be open and closed Thursday and Friday, July 4-5. 

Attractions/Entertainment

  • COCA: Closed Thursday. 
  • St. Louis Zoo: Open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m Thursday.
  • University City Public Library: Closed. 
Businesses
  • Cheeseology Macaroni & Cheese: Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Jilly's Cupcake Bar: Closed
  • Mission Taco Joint: Closed
  • Piccione Pastry: Open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday
  • Thai Country Cafe: Closed July 1-4
  • Vintage Vinyl: Closed
Government Offices
  • City of U City: City Hall will be closed.
  • U City Trash Collection: Trash and recycling will not be collected on Thursday, July 4. The Thursday routes will be collected on Friday and the Friday routes will be collected on Saturday. Please place trash/recycling carts and yard waste bundles or bags (each bag must have the required sticker) at the front curb before 7 a.m.
  • St. Louis County Library: Branches will be closed Thursday, but will reopen Friday.
  • U.S. Postal Service: Post offices are closed and mail will not be delivered Thursday, but the postal service schedule resumes with offices open and mail delivered on Friday.
