Celebrate the Fourth of July at Fair Saint Louis

The three-day festival kicks off on Thursday, July 4, and runs through Saturday, July 6, in downtown St. Louis.

Fourth of July weekend in the St. Louis area means Fair Saint Louis and fireworks over the Mississippi.

This year's Fair Saint Louis runs from Thursday-Saturday, July 4-6, downtown on the grounds of the Gateway Arch. Concerts begin at 8 p.m. each night with fireworks to immediately follow. This year's acts include:

  • July 4 — Trace Adkins
  • July 5 — Bret Michaels
  • July 6 — Counting Crows
All shows are free and open to the public. There will be events and activities for the children and adults alike throughout the weekend.

The schedule for the weekend is as follows:

Thursday, July 4 
  • Schnucks Freedom 4-Miler, 7 a.m.
  • Family Fun Run, 8:30 a.m.
  • 136th Annual VP Parade, 9:30 a.m.
  • Air Show, kids zone and cultural stage activities, 12 p.m.
  • Local music, 2 p.m.
  • Air Show, 4 p.m
  • Local music, 6 p.m.
  • Trace Adkins, 8 p.m.

Friday, July 5

Know Before You Go
There are limitations on what can be brought into the fairgrounds. A complete list can be found on the Fair Saint Louis website. Each fairgoer may bring in one plastic bottle filled with a non-alcoholic beverage. Free watering stations will be placed around the grounds for refills.
  • No outside food, coolers or glass containers are allowed.
  • Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on the Arch grounds. Some seating will be available on the amphitheater steps below the Arch.
  • Bikes, skateboards and scooters are not permitted on the grounds.
  • No pets (except service animals)
Illinois Option
Want to see the fireworks but don't want to battle the crowds in downtown St. Louis? Head over to East St. Louis. 

Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park, home of the Gateway Geyser, is hosting its own family-friendly events over the July 4-6 weekend.    

“Our 30-acre park offers a spacious lawn area for spreading out with your family and friends to take in the spectacular view of the fireworks in a family friendly, entertaining and patriotic environment,” said Mike Buehlhorn, executive director of the Metro East Park and Recreation District, in a press release.

Activities will get underway at 5 p.m. each night and will include free face painting, caricature drawings, balloon art, an inflatable obstacle course, hot air balloon display, magic shows, juggling, carnival games and a circus workshop. 

The Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble from Scott Air Force Base will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. July 4.
