Reclaim your Catholic faith!

Praying for something different? Discover...St. Catherine of Siena American National Catholic Church, a modern, welcoming and inclusive Catholic Church.

Are you a lapsed Catholic who would like to return to the Catholic Church, but are discouraged by the politics and recent sex scandals? Are you Catholic but feel excluded because of marital status, gender or sexual orientation? You now have a viable option in St. Catherine of Siena American National Catholic Church (ANCC).

This alternative Catholic church offers a way for local Catholics to reclaim their Catholic faith. It is located in the historic Danforth Chapel at 826 Union Blvd, in the Central West End. It is one of seven parishes in the ANCC and four more parishes will be established soon in the United States. Mass is celebrated on Sunday mornings at 10:00am and Saturday evenings at 5:30pm.

While maintaining the core theology and liturgical practices of Roman Catholicism, St. Catherine of Siena ANCC differs in several important areas. Unlike Roman Catholicism, priests are allowed to get married and women are permitted to be ordained priest. The seven sacraments are open to all people regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation.

St. Catherine’s doesn’t require an annulment prior to remarriage within the church and welcomes those who have been divorced to full and active participation in the church. It is also fully inclusive of all people. We joyfully unite same-sex couples in the Sacrament of Matrimony and ordain qualified gay and lesbian priests who are called by God.

We disagree with Rome regarding the absolute authority of the Pope. We agree with the more collegial decision-making process suggested by Vatican II. Lastly, St. Catherine of Siena ANCC has not adopted the 2011 Roman Mass liturgy changes, such as the use of “and with your spirit,” instead of the more familiar, “and also with you.” The more comfortable wording remains part of St. Catherine’s Mass.

Since the move to the Danforth Chapel in December 2012, St. Catherine of Siena ANCC has seen a substantial increase in attendance, with more than 50 registered families, but more members are needed to fully thrive.

As a hidden gem in the heart of the Central West End and Delmar Loop, St. Catherine of Siena ANCC has open doors and welcomes all people, especially those Catholics, seeking an alternative worship community. Come and reclaim your Catholic faith!
