The Sweet Taste of Victory

The baking team from Jilly's Cupcake Bar and Cafe in University City won Tuesday night's episode of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network.

A little after 9:00am on Wednesday morning, Carol Weisman of Ladue was digging into a Raspberry Fizzion cupcake at , in University City.

A cupcake for breakfast?

You see it's not just any old cupcake. Raspberry Fizzion, is one of 4 cupcake flavors that helped the Jilly's team win the battle of the Cupcake Wars on the Food Network. The episode aired Tuesday night. The other winning cupcakes were Space Monkey (banana-toffee cake), Meringue-a-Tang (almond-orange cake) and Island in the Sun (pineapple cake).

Dana Holland, executive chef at Jilly's and Casey Shiller, a Certified Executive Pastry Chef, who is Jilly's Director of Pastry and Baking represented Jilly's on the show. The pair competed against three other teams in baking battle for a $10,000 grand prize.

Weisman said she stops by Jilly's every couple of months, but this morning it was getting a taste of "the winning cupcake," that motivated her. "I love raspberry flavored everything," said Weisman when asked why she chose Raspberry Fizzion over the others.

"That's a really awesome cupcake," Weisman said after her first bite.

Wilmetta Diallo of University City bought a 4 pack of the winning cupcakes. She said her daughter is a big fan of the TV show Cupcake Wars.

"We watch is every week. My daughter is only 7 but he is addicted to the show," said Diallo. The fact a U City establishment was featured on the show is a huge bonus.

"It's really exciting."
