It's Friday, and you've got no idea what you'll do for the weekend. University City Patch is coming to the rescue. Check our picks for the activities to hit and places to explore.

 

Where/When: 5:30pm to 8:00pm with a short program at 6:30pm, university , 6701 Delmar Blvd, University City. It's open to all. Why Go: After 40 years, University City's Library Director Linda Ballard, is retiring.  Come out and help celebrate Linda's fabulous career and wish Linda well. Pricing: Free. Where/When: 8:oopm Saturday, , 560 Trinity Ave. Why Go: Danu is one of the leading Irish groups playing today.  The band mixes Irish music with contemporary works to give audiences an authentic Irish experience. Pricing: $35 adult, $25 child, $30 seniors, $20 students. Tickets:  Buy Tickets

When/Where: 8 p.m. Friday, Washington University South Campus Theatre
Why Go: 
This fun-filled rock musical breathes new life into Shakespeare's classic play with rowdy dialogue and lots of laughs. Leave the kids at home—this play is for adults only. Pricing: Students/Seniors - $15, Adults - $20

SOULARD MARDI GRAS

When/Where: Parade kicks off at 11:00am Saturday, starting from Busch Stadium and ending at Anheuser-Busch. After the parade, the crowd makes its way to Soulard, for food, drinks and live music. Why Go: It's considered one of the largest Mardi Gras celebrations outside of New Orleans. Thousands of people line the parade route to watch the floats and get beads. Pricing: Parade is free. Food and drink will cost you.

When/Where: Saturday, 4pm. at 6193 Delmar Blvd,. Teen rapper Yung Ro will be shooting the official video for his next single, “Candy Gurl.” Why Go: To watch a rap video being shot and maybe make an appearance. Pricing: Free. Although, for every $10.00 purchase made at the candy boutique, a dollar will be donated to help the family of Ranisha “Precious” Cole buy a tombstone. Cole was a 17-year-old girl who was shot and killed on Christmas night at a club in North St. Louis.
