Garden Tour Blossoms Despite Rainy Weather

U City in Bloom estimates the garden tour raised $12,000.

Despite Sunday's rainy weather, U City in Bloom's Garden Tour still drew loads of people eager for a chance to visit some of U City’s loveliest private gardens.

"We sold over 300 tickets in advance but know that the rain kept away all those less than the most "intrepid" gardeners and art fair shoppers," said Helen Fuller, who helped organize Sunday's event. "Each private garden recorded 100 (guests), some over that number."

"We at U City in Bloom consider this an extremely successful event!" said Fuller. She estimates the event raised about $12,000.

Fuller worried the rain would ruin the day for people, but she said she was "surprised" and "pleased" that those who attended really enjoyed themselves.
