Female Spiritual Leader Coming to Bais Abraham Congregation

Rori Picker Neiss is the first woman to hold a clerical role in an Orthodox synagogue in St. Louis.

Bais Abraham Congregation, an Orthodox synagogue in University City, has hired a female spiritual leader, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

According to the Post story, Rori Picker Neiss will become the synagogue’s director of programming, education and community engagement, and the first woman to hold a clerical role in an Orthodox synagogue in St. Louis.

Neiss is a student at Yeshivat Maharat in New York City and she will finish the final year of her studies remotely from St. Louis. Neiss is scheduled to join Bais Abraham in August.
