Crown Center to Hold Homecoming Event

Bluegrass and klezmer music will combine with kosher food and artwork next month when the celebrates its 2012 “Homecoming Event.”

The festivities will take place from 2-5 p.m. June 24 at Crown Center, 8350 Delcrest. The independent senior living facility invites interested members of the community to enjoy carnival foods such as ice cream, popcorn and cotton candy while reveling in tunes from bluegrass band Onions in the Pot and area ensemble The Klezmer Conspiracy.

Facepainting will be available for children as well as a special story time event through a partnership with PJ Library, a program of Jewish Federation of Greater St. Louis.

Artistic creations from residents will be on the agenda as well with paintings from the Crown community set for a showing during the event. These paintings will be a part of the unveiling of a permanent display highlighting the center’s vibrant cultural life. A special exhibit will also feature residents' wedding photos.

Crown Center’s volunteers will be honored during the gala and tours will be available of the recently revamped facilities and apartments for potential future residents.

“Crown Center’s longstanding commitment to serving the needs of seniors in the St. Louis community has made it a landmark in St. Louis. I’m happy to share ourselves and our beautiful facility with the community,” said Nikki Goldstein, Crown’s executive director. “We hope people from around the area will join us for this celebration of life at Crown.”

There is no charge for admission or food and RSVP is not necessary.
