Barbara C. Jordan Welcomes Students With Snow Cone Social

The new Barbara C. Jordan building welcomed students with an open house and snow cone social.

Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School held a snow cone social on Thursday evening, so students could tour through their new building ahead of next week's school start.

Families packed the gymnasium to hear from District Superintendent Joylynn Pruitt and BCJ Principal Monica Hudson. There was even an Oprah moment, when students were asked to look under their seats and see if they were winners.

An incoming kindergartner named Tyler jumped up and down holding his piece of paper that declared him a winner. His prize was a free backpack.
