Stress Relief for Ten Bucks at Ruth Park

Angry? Feel better on the cheap - smack a ball around and show it who's boss.

Sometimes we neeeeed a tool for a little anger management in our lives. Right now.

We hear about the latest gambit by the Republicans or the Democrats, we hear that our 401K has reverted to pre-1980 levels, or our children come home to make a shocking announcement, and we need something at that moment that will satisfy the need to vent.

Fortunately for those of us who live and work in University City, we have a resource - the cheapest driving range in St. Louis.

Ruth Park is located at 8211 Groby Road, very close to 170 and Delmar.  When you go, you will find that three bucks nets you 40 balls, but if you want to splurge, you can get the "I'm really mad" bucket of 120 balls for only 8 dollars.  Every other driving range in St. Louis that I have found can be nearly twice as expensive.

No clubs?  No problem.  Head over to 7575 Olive to the Goodwill.  They have a rack from which you can choose your weapon for three bucks.

No golf skill?  No problem.  There is a machine by the driving range that dispenses balls with the swipe of a debit card.  No golf shop pro is going to give you a fishy eye when he hands you your bucket of balls.

Just throw your ball down on the mat, line up and swing.  Getting a good crack at a ball is very cathartic.  Sure, you might make the real golfers on the 9th hole duck, but that's alright.  You're in good company.  A.A. Milne, the author of Winnie-the-Pooh, said that "Golf is so popular because it is the best game in the world at which to be bad."
