Restaurant Inspections: Wong's Wok, Cheese-Ology, Chipotle, Hon's Wok, Jimmy John's

Wong's Wok, 565 Melville Ave.
Inspection date: March 28 (complaint)
Grade: A (90)
Comments: The Health Department received a complaint from a customer that they observed roaches on the floor, raw meat on counters, and employees “scratching head and then serving foods.” The inspector found roaches, but no evidence of raw meat or improper employee hygiene. The restaurant was required to submit proof of a pesticide application within 10 days of the inspection. The inspector also noted soiled shelving, walls and floors, and soiled linens on food contact surfaces. Some food items were not properly labeled, and cooked chicken was placed in a raw poultry box, according to the report.

Cheese-ology Maracroni & Cheese, 6602 Delmar Blvd.
Inspection date: March 29 (complaint)
Grade: A (100)
Comments: The Health Department received a complaint from a customer who claims he or she received a food borne illness from the classic mac and cheese. The inspector who investigated the complaint did not find any related violations. The inspector also completed a routine inspection, and found dust build-up on air vents. Food that was not labeled by its common name was corrected on-site, according to the report.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, 6316 Delmar Blvd.

Hon’s Wok, 6900 Olive Blvd.
Inspection date: March 28
Grade: A (96)
Comments:  Food in reach-in cooler were not holding proper temperatures, which was adjusted during the inspection. Chlorine sanitizing levels in the dish machine were also corrected on-site. Scratched and worn cutting boards were recommended for replacement or resurfacing. A sink leak was recommended for repair prior to the next routine inspection.

Jimmy John’s, 6681 Delmar Blvd.
Inspection date: April 3 (follow-up)
Grade: A (100)
Comments: Hepatitis A immunization records for employees, which was not clearly maintained during a routine inspection on April 2, was provided. The inspector observed standing water under the ice machine, which was cleaned by an employee during the inspection. The manager contacted maintenance to address a hand sink that wasn’t reaching proper hot water temperatures, according to the report.
