Work Progressing on New Loop Restaurant Nico

The owner of Franco in Soulard will open a restaurant in the former Brandt's Cafe space to be called Nico.

Signs have gone up in the window of the former Brandt's Cafe space announcing the arrival of the Loop's newest restaurant, Nico.

A look inside shows renovations are definitely underway.

Tom Schmidt, owner of Franco in Soulard, along with his partner Chris Williams, the executive chef at Franco, are behind Nico. No word on exactly when the new restaurant will open its doors.

Schmidt told the St. Louis Post Dispatch in September that Nico will have a similar French-Mediterranean menu to Franco's, but entrees will run an average of $15, a little less than Franco.
