Berger Memorial Moving in With Olivette's Kriegshauser: Report

The Jewish Light has more details of a move Olivette Patch reported in January.

The Jewish Light reports that Berger Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel, with a history of nearly 100 years in the Central West End, will be moving into a portion of Kriegshauser West Mortuary in the fall.

In January, , on Olive Boulevard, had requested a building permit that called for a quarter-million dollars worth of renovations.

Officials from both funeral homes declined to discuss the move with Patch at the time. Now comes word from an article last week in the Jewish Light that the move is expected in September.

"We are only changing our physical location," Richard Stein, location manager for Berger, told the Light. "All of our services and outstanding staff will be moving to the new facility, which will located more conveniently for the majority of the Jewish community. It is not where we are, it is who we are."

The planned renovation at Kriegshauser will give Berger its own entrance, chapel, offices, family room, parlor and a tahara room for ritual burial preparation.
