UMSL Professor David Robertson to Discuss The Original Compromise

The author will speak Thursday at the University City Public Library.

On Thursday, June 6, at 7 p.m. in the University City Public Library auditorium, St. Louis historian David Robertson will discuss his new book The Original Compromise: What the Constitution’s Framers Were Really Thinking.

Robertson will be introduced by Missouri State Rep. Rory Ellinger, D-University City, with an interview and Q&A with KWMU's Don Marsh to follow.

The book draws from little-used sources to provide a much fuller account of the debates in the Constitutional Convention of 1787, and outlines the framers’ thoughts by theme, providing readers with a deeper understanding of the history-making document.

Robertson is Curator's Distinguished Teaching Professor of Political Science at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He is the author of The Constitution and America's Destiny and Federalism and the Making of America

University City Public Library is partnering with Subterranean Books to present this event to the public. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase, and refreshments will be provided.
