U City Symphony Orchestra Kicks Off 2013-14 Season Oct. 13

The first concert of the season is this weekend.

The University City Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 2013-2014 season with a concert at Concordia Seminary Chapel, 801 Seminary Place in Clayton at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. 

The concert is free and open to the public.

This concert season for the Symphony will have a theme of “Brazil, Basics and Beyond.”

The Concordia concert will feature the music of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, called the “single most significant creative figure in 20th-century Brazilian art music.”

“We invite everyone in the community to come hear a wonderful concert at Concordia,” said Maestro Leon Burke III, Music Director and Conductor for the Symphony, in a press release. “The selections will provide delightful surprises for the audience.”

 This is the 54th season for the University City Symphony Orchestra.
