Man of Steel

Mark Glass, Patch: 3.5 stars: "There is much to like about this revised version of the Superman saga we’ve all known from comic books to TV to feature films. Not only has the classic suit been given a sleek, subdued makeover, but the heros’ backstory has also been fleshed out and revised to make Earth’s most powerful resident alien a more relatable character, complete with angst and identity issues akin to those of Batman and Spiderman." Before Midnight
Mark Glass, Patch. 4 of 4 stars: "For anyone seeking headier fare than the broad comedies and big-scale action flicks that abound each summer, it would be hard to top this choice. Those who haven’t seen, or don’t clearly recall, the earlier films will have little trouble catching up with the players and their backstories. This is the kind of movie actual grownups (and artsy pretenders) complain that no one makes any more." Read the full review on Patch.

This Is The End
Mark Glass, Patch, 2.5 of 4 stars: "Seth Rogen shares writing and directing credits, while also starring in this raunchy ensemble comedy in which he and a bunch of mostly-comedic actor pals play jerky versions of themselves coping with what may their last days on Earth." Read the full review

The Kings of Summer
Mark Glass, Patch. 3.5 of 4 stars: "Welcome to the second annual coming-of-age/back to nature comedy festival. Last year’s sleeper hit in this vein was Moonrise Kingdom. This one features three high school guys - two friends and an annoying hanger-on (Moises Arias)- who are so fed up with their annoying parents and other assorted frustrations they decide to build a home in the nearby woods in an act of emancipation."
