Missouri's Poet Laureate Reads Tonight at U City Library

April is National Poetry Month – come celebrate with an award-winning local poet. 

The Friends of the will host an evening with poet David Clewell who will read from his work. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 23. 

Clewell teaches at . He has published seven collections of poems and two book-length poems (The Conspiracy Quartet and Jack Ruby's America).

He is the recipient of the Pollak Poetry Prize (for Now We're Getting Somewhere) and the Lavan Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets. His Blessings in Disguise was a winner in the National Poetry Series. 

The program is free and open to all – a very brief business meeting will precede the reading as this event serves as the Annual Meeting of the Friends group.
