Jane O.Wayne and Howard Schwartz at UCPL

Join us on Friday night at 7, as two celebrated local authors help us kick off this year's National Poetry Month.

Jane O. Wayne’s collection Looking Both Ways (MO Press) received the Devins Award for Poetry, and A Strange Heart (Helicon Editions) received the Marianne Moore Poetry Prize and the Society of Midland Authors Award. From the Night Album was published by Pecan Grove Press in 2007  and her latest collection The Other Place You Live (Mayapple Press) in November 2010.

Her poems have appeared in Poetry, The Iowa Review, American Scholar, Ploughshares, Massachusetts Review, Boulevard, The Cincinnati Review, Bellevue Literary Review, Tar River, Journal ofAmerican Medical Association, and Poetry Daily.

Howard Schwartz’s fourth book of poems, Breathing in the Dark, his first in almost twenty years, was published in February by Mayapple Press. His previous books of poems are Vessels, Gathering the Sparks and Sleepwalking Beneath the Stars. He is also the author of Tree of Souls: The Mythology of Judaism, which won the National Jewish Book Award in 2005. His most recent book, Leaves from the Garden of Eden: One Hundred Classic Jewish Tales, was published in 2008.
