Craft Alliance Bringing "Before I Die" Project to Delmar Loop

See the mural project this weekend at the Get Your Chalk On! festival in the Delmar Loop.

Craft Alliance is bringing artist Candy Chang’s Before I Die to life in St. Louis.

The mission of the Before I Die project is simple: “Before I Die is a global art project that invites people to reflect on their lives and share their personal aspirations in a public space.”

The project, like all of Ms. Chang's work, empowers individuals to express their hopes and dreams in a public forum. Her initial project in New Orleans has spawned over 300 Before I Die walls in 50 countries and 20 languages.

Local artist Robert Fishbone, along with other members of the St. Louis Mural Project, will be installing the project on the east side of Craft Alliance's Delmar Loop building.

The project relies heavily on public participation and will continue to evolve over time. Craft Alliance hopes that this mural will become a destination within itself and the organization plans to document its changing messages.

The public unveiling is scheduled to coincide with the Third Annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival in the Delmar Loop, but will remain up for the foreseeable future.
