A Closer Look at Plaza that Will House Chuck Berry Statue

Chuck Berry plaza has taken shape in the last week.

The Chuck Berry plaza in the Loop has really taken shape in the last week.

Gone is the muddy, construction site -- and in its place is an area that now resembles its future designation as a plaza.

Joe Edwards, who helped spearhead the project, says he expects the Berry statue will be installed in by the end of this week, on either Thursday or Friday.

Granite curbs that were taken from Melville Avenue when that street was redone have been placed in the plaza. They're etched with song lyrics. Also, three hollow stainless sculptural walls with laser cut musical notes are up and ready to go.
