U City Woman Named Ms. Missouri Senior

She will compete for Ms. Senior America this fall.

University City resident Veronica Hilyard was crowned Ms. Missouri Senior in July. She will go on to compete for Ms. Senior America this fall.

Hilyard wowed the judges as she sang an aria from Puccini. Fourteen area women came together to compete for this title.

Meet Me in St. Louis was the theme of the 2012 pageant. The senior pageant celebrates women over the age of 60.

As a certified teacher, principal and superintendent of schools, Hilyard has served public and parochial schools in Missouri, Texas, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  She has a doctorate in Educational Leadership and a master's degree in Education of the Gifted/Talented. 

She is chairperson of Maryville University School of Education's Leadership Council.
