U City Library Named MOREnet Research Partner

The grant will provide the library with additional resources.

The University City Public Library has been chosen as the partner library for MOREnet’s three-year Library Research Project. The project will allow the University City Public Library to explore the future of library services and to provide the community with the technologies that will support these services.

The University City Public Library will, with MOREnet’s help, develop a technology maker space with a variety of equipment and software for use by all library patrons. The project will develop and provide resources as part of a physical and digital MakerSpace, including facilities, equipment and software for audio and video recording and editing, and equipment and software for 3D modeling, printing and fabrication.

The library be be able to provide learning opportunities related to this new equipment and software. In addition, the library will develop a digital repository for work generated by members of the community (including digital images, documents, audio files and videos) that will help preserve and explore our collective past and document our present lives while imagining and designing our shared future. This project will be built on the creativity of our residents and our existing partnerships with community groups.
