Green Center Fundraiser Set for Saturday

University City's Green Center will host its third annual Green Tie Affair to raise funds for environmental and educational programs.

This Saturday offers University City residents a chance to wine, dine and support the environment, education and the arts when The Green Center holds its third annual Green Tie Affair.

The event will give attendees a chance to wander the Center's grounds in Kaufman Park while enjoying food and brews from local providers. Backdoor Harvest and other area artisans will be on hand to provide demonstrations, and live music will be provided by the U City Jazz Band and Yacob Bashkin.

Proceeds from the evening will go toward funding the Center's mission of connecting children and adults to the environment through education, hands-on experiences and art. This includes a large variety of programs such as outdoor environmental classes of U City schools, after-school activities, summper camps, art openings and adult workshops.

In addition, it will help the Center continue to maintain its more than 30 acres of land. The center's property ranges from an expanse of native prairie to a restored wetland along with the 26-acre Ruth Park Woods.

Tickets can be purchased by calling The Green Center at 314.725.8314, or by visiting their website, where you can also learn more about the Center's events and programs. Tickets are $40 for non-members and $25 for members.
