Centennial Commons Without Power; Power Restored ay UCHS and Jackson Park

Centennial Commons is open for business despite being without power.

Centennial Commons is open for business Tuesday, but remains without power this morning, after storms knocked out electricity to the facility around noon on Monday.

In an email, Recreation Superintendent Lynda Euell-Taylor tells University City Patch that Centennial Commons lost power around 12:30 pm Monday and had to close at 7:30 pm, when the facilities emergency lighting began to fade.

Euell-Taylor said this morning the facility is "still without telephones, computers and limited lighting, but we are still open."

According to Ameren Missouri's website, about 1,000 customers in the 63130 zip code area are without power.

Meantime, there has been some confusion over whether University City schools are open today. Classes at University City High School and Jackson Park Elementary were initially canceled this morning because of a power outage in the area. However, power is back on and both schools are open.
