Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C. Renews 118-Year-Old Commitment to Downtown St. Louis with Five-Year Lease

ST. LOUIS – A venerable St. Louis business law firm that has become a highly visual presence in downtown St. Louis is renewing its 118-year-old commitment to the city.  Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C., one of the region’s largest law firms, has signed a five-year lease to remain in its headquarters at 10 S. Broadway in the heart of downtown St. Louis.  In addition to its headquarters, Greensfelder has offices in Belleville and Chicago, Ill.  It employs a staff of 287 including 165 attorneys.

“Downtown is the center of the St. Louis business community and that’s where we want to be,” said Vince Garozzo, president.  “Over the past 10 years, we’ve been able to see an incredible momentum unfold downtown from our headquarters, first with the construction of the new Busch Stadium and now the building of Ballpark Village.  We are very excited about downtown’s future.”

Greensfelder occupies more than 110,000 square feet on the six top floors of the 10 S. Broadway building and has a panoramic view of the ballpark and construction of Ballpark Village.  In 2009, the firm’s name was placed atop the building in plain view of those watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, further amplifying its presence downtown.

“As one of the leading St. Louis business law firms, we are happy that Greensfelder is renewing its 118-year commitment to downtown St. Louis,” said St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay.  “It speaks volumes to the strength of the city’s business community and its stature as a hub of commerce for the region.”

Greensfelder was founded in 1895 by Bernard Greensfelder and has been a fixture in downtown St. Louis ever since.  The firm was initially located in the Commonwealth Trust Building at Broadway and Locust Street.  It moved among several downtown buildings over the years before locating its headquarters at the Equitable Building in 1972 which was later renamed 10 S. Broadway.
