The School District of University City will host its spring Fired Up for Kindergarten night on Tuesday, Feb. 28 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
This event provides parents of preschool-aged children the opportunity to tour the elementary school, learn about the kindergarten curriculum, meet principals and teachers and ask questions.
Fired Up sites for spring 2012 will include:
- Barbara C. Jordan Elementary, 1500 N. 82nd Blvd
- Flynn Park Elementary, 7220 Waterman Ave.
- Jackson Park Elementary, 7400 Balson Ave.
- Pershing Elementary at the Nathaniel Hawthorne Building, 1351 N. Hanley

Flynn Park Elementary schools serves children from kindergarten through sixth grade. The school is expanding to accommodate students from nearby schools that are closing down. Flynn Park is adding a new cafeteria and classrooms. The school's philosophy is that "Each and Every Child Will Learn, Each and Every Day." The building is a completely peanut-free school.
