Edward McCarthy for U City Board of Education

McCarthy is seeking his first term on the board.

Patch sent all local candidates for office identical questionnaires in order to compile candidate profiles prior to the April election. Each candidate who returned the survey will be featured on the site. Edward J. Just Announced: U City Candidate Forum Tonight

The school board election is April 2.

A candidate forum for the School District of University City board of education race has just been announced. The forum will be held at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday, March 21) at the University City Public Library.  The event is hosted by the League of Women Voters.  There are two open seats on the Board of Education. A public discussion on Proposition U, the proposed $19.4 million bond issue for the School District of University City, is being held tonight.  Join Chris Arps and David Harris for a discussion about the pros and cons of ballot issueProp. Registration Deadline Approaching for Voters in University City

The last day to register to vote in the April election is days away.

If you want to vote in the April 2 election, the deadline is fast approaching to register to vote in St. Louis County. Voters must be registered by March 6 to vote in the April election. In order to register, you must: Missourians can register to vote by one of the following methods: St. Louis County residents can also send in a completed voter registration application to: The Board of Election Commissioners, 12 Sunnen Dr., Ste. 126 St. Louis, MO 63143. U City Elections: What Do You Want to Know?

Patch wants to know what you want to ask the candidates in the race School District of University City board of education..

Election season is upon us and University City Patch is gearing up to bring you the best local election coverage possible.  Local elections are Tuesday, April 2. There is no election for City of University City offices this year, but there is quite a race for seats on the School District of University City Board of Education. There are four candidates on the ballot for two open seats on the board. Clint Zweifel Says He'll Serve Full Term As State Treasurer

Just elected to a four-year term in November, Missouri's State Treasurer is seen by some as a possible candidate for Lieutenant Governor if a vacancy is created.

In what he called a "sincere statement," Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel told Patch Wednesday he would serve a full term in office, despite some speculation he could be a candidate for lieutenant governor. Zweifel, a former state representative from Florissant, spoke to a group of small business owners at Pulaski Bank in Creve Coeur Wednesday. Political watchers will be keeping a close eye on what happens Feb. 9 in Southeast Missouri, as Republicans in the state's Eighth Congressional district decide who to put up in a June special election to fill the seat left empty by Jo Ann Emerson's resignation. Four Person Race for U City Board of Education

There are two seats up for reelection on the April ballot.

Filing for seats on the Board of Education for the School District of University City closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15.  There are four candidates for the two open seats. Incumbents Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal and Tom Peters both filed to retain their seats. The candidates, in order of filing and ballot appearance, are: School board members serve a three-year term. In addition to choosing two school board members, voters will also have a $19.4 million bond issue on the April 2 ballot.

School District Puts $19.4 Million Bond on April Ballot

The School District of University City board of education approved putting the bond on the April 2013 ballot Thursday.

The Board of Education for the School District of University City approved a measure to place a $19.4 million, no-tax increase bond issue on the April 2013 ballot. The board approved the measure 7-0. The election is slated for April 2. The district also has two seats on the board of education on the April ballot. The ballot language for Proposition U-2 will read as follows: For the purpose of implementing the recommendations of the Facilities Steering Committee, including, but not limited to, financing the cost of renovating, furnishing and equipping existing District schools and facilities, shall the Board of Education of the School District of University City be authorized to borrow money in the amount of Nineteen Million Four Hundred …

U City Schools to Seek $19.4 Million Bond in April

The School District of University City board of education approved putting the bond on the April 2013 ballot Thursday.

The Board of Education for the School District of University City approved a measure to place a $19.4 million, no-tax increase bond issue on the April 2013 ballot. The board approved the measure 7-0. A school facilities committee recommended the bond issue at a board workshop meeting Nov. 1. The committee, which met several times this fall, had three overall recommendations for the board. Filing for April School Board Election Opens Today

There are two seats open on the University City School Board.

The Board of Education of University City will have two open seats in the April 3, 2012 election. The first day of filing for candidates is Tuesday, Dec. 11. Prospective school board members have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 to file paperwork to run for a seat. Interested parties can file at the Ronald E. McNair Administration Building, located at 8136 Groby Road. School board members serve a three-year term. According to the Missouri School Board Association, school board candidates must be a 24 years old and a resident taxpayer of the district in which they run for at least one year before the election. Up for re-election are the seats held by Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal and Tom Peters.
