The Jewish Light reports that Berger Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel, with a history of nearly 100 years in the Central West End, will be moving into a portion of Kriegshauser West Mortuary in the fall. In January, Patch first reported the possibility of the move, as Kriegshauser, on Olive Boulevard, had requested a building permit that called for a quarter-million dollars worth of renovations. Officials from both funeral homes declined to discuss the move with Patch at the time. Now comes word from an article last week in the Jewish Light that the move is expected in September. A little more than a week after being removed from office on charges that he abused his authority, Ellisville’s former Mayor Adam Paul stood before a new city council and announced he had launched a pair of lawsuits. Paul made his remarks during the public comment portion of a meeting Wednesday and struck a defiant tone, promising that he would return to office. “It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when,” he said. It has been a long time coming, but it appears Olivette is ready to fill a "sidewalk gap" along Delmar Boulevard near the University City border. The city's public works department is working with St. Louis County on a roughly $60,000 project that would put sidewalks in front of five apartment properties along the north side of Delmar Boulevard near Dumbarton Drive. The project needs the approval of the property owner in the area and the city still needs to obtain right-of-way easements, but once that happens, the county will hire a contractor, with the expectation the work will be done this …

A tapas restaurant in Dogtown will soon be serving up sandwiches, pizza and barbecue, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Rusty Eubank, a former manager at Mile 277 in Sunset Hills, will be transforming the La Gra Italian Tapas space (1227 Tamm Ave.) into his new restaurant, called Tamm Avenue Grill, according to the report. A new raw vegan café is set to open in Clayton’s DeMun neighborhood this spring. The Clayton Board of Aldermen approved the opening of Seedz Café, at 6344 S. Rosebury Avenue, at the Feb. 26 meeting. The owners, Montgomery Gralnick and Cara Schloss, originally from St. Louis, are coming from California. Gralnick said he prepared food for high-profile people who were very specific about the nutritional content of their diet. Kimiye Corwin and Anderson Matthews will headline Shakespeare Festival St. Louis’ production of Twelfth Night May 24 through June 16 at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park. Both Corwin and Matthews were last seen in SFSTL’s production of Hamlet as Ophelia and Polonius, respectively, in 2010. Preview performances are scheduled for May 22-23. Information was provided by the communications staff of Shriners Hospital for Children. National and local officials of Shriners Hospitals for Children Wednesday announced plans to build a $47 million replacement hospital on the campus of Washington University School of Medicine. Officials will break ground March 20 on the facility, which will replace the current 50-year-old hospital located in Frontenac. A lost chicken in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood sparked an online search that left Facebook followers running around like a…well, you know. A neighbor found the bantam Rhode Island Red hen near the 6000 block of Pershing Ave. and asked neighbors online to help identify the owner. After a series of serious-yet-amused emails and Facebook posts, a neighborhood couple recognized the hen, which was reunited with its owner, Melanie Maynor. The Museum welcomed 41,989 K–12 students in 2012, a record for the institution and nearly double the number of students who visited in 2011. The National Blues Museum is currently raising funds to build a cultural attraction in downtown St. Louis. Affton native John Goodman recently shot a promotional video for the museum. The facility will be focused on education, entertainment and community involvement. With 23,000 square feet of programming space, a 100-seat theater as well as technology and artifact-driven exhibits, the National Blues Museum will explore the Blues and celebrate the genre as the root of all modern American music.
