Loop Businesses Launch Successful Marketing Internship Program

Every Monday afternoon in the old University City library building on Trinity Ave., a room full of motivated Loop interns work together on their laptops.  Each intern tediously working on various projects to help improve The Loop's social media and online presence.

The internship began in May with 9 interns who each focus their efforts on a different area of social media for The Loop.  So far, the program has proven to be a tremendous success.

Throughout the week, the interns take turns posting relevant information about The Loop on facebook, twitter, flickr, tumblr, and the website.  By consistently adding fresh content to social media sites, more traffic is being driven to The Loop website as an end result.

It was reported at the Loop Special Business District marketing meeting on Tuesday, June 28, that visitors to The Loop website had increased by more than 500 per week compared to only one month ago.  Members of the Loop businesses were thrilled at hearing this news and excited to find out if this growth trend will continue.

The interns have also created a weekly email blast that promotes events, sales, and discounts of Loop businesses that is sent out every Wednesday at 1pm.  Each week the email blast has an open ratio over 30% on every email sent.

Upcoming projects that the Loop interns will be working on includes creating graphic design images for a new Loop t-shirt and event coverage of the Chuck Berry Statue dedication on July 29.  Photos of the event will be taken to add to the Loop website, and video footage will be shot to create a YouTube video to capture the event.

The summer internship will wrap up on August 1, and the fall internship will begin in mid-August.  For more information about the specifics of this internship, please visit The Loop marketing internship posting.
