When I have reflected back on the wars that have been fought centuries ago or recently, I have tried to think about what motivated one human being to kill another. How could some leaders motivate humans to kill other humans whether men, women or even children? Reading books, viewing stage plays or movies, seldom is this explored in depth, and yet it comes to one inescapable conclusion HATE. In some way these human beings must be turned off to thinking of others as being worthy and deserving. Some differences (religion, ethnicity, color of skin, eyes, etc ) must be exploited to turn off the natural affinity for other humans.
I think back on the Civil War in our country and what is happening in Syria and other countries during the so called "Arab Spring," and see there is something else that cycles up this HATE complex. Today, in our country HATE is ruining our perfect union and exposing us to DISASTER too large for me to even imagine. We must come to grips with our own FRAILTY if there is any hope. I am not about to get into a religious discussion here but whatever one feels, individually we have to come to grips in our own minds! Unabashed HATE is so insidious until we don't know it's there until, unbidden it forces itself out! It's difficult to get rid of because it's hidden, somewhat akin to the fight or flight mechanism, which is needed in certain situations.
I consider myself an ordinary human being and don't purport to tell others how to live their lives, as though I was an authority or an expert. I have seen things as most of us have and am only expressing my opinions in hopes of more of us getting involved in removing some of these vestiges of HATE.
