Please define your terms. I already have a Gigabit of Internet access with AT&T U-verse; it just takes a while. Do you mean a Gigabit per second??

Hi Elgin,
Gigabit means 1000 Mbps or 1000 megabits per second. This is much faster than traditional home Internet connections and is similar to what Google Fiber is offering in Kansas City.
Best regards,
Dave

David, I found the article and the attached PDF interesting but very light on actual implementation details. I am one of the residents living along the trolley line who would very much look forward to gigabit Internet.
Will it be free? If not, what will the cost be? How is it delivered into the home or business? Is it wired or wireless? If wireless, is it 802.11n or would be be required to purchase new wireless hardware? How far from the trolley line will the gigabit access extend? Where and when will it begin to be rolled out? Were do we sign up?
Any and all actual information would be welcome.

Good questions Earl - actually we are in a planning phase now to address these issues in our business plan. Given that, here is what I can tell you so far.
We are currently beginning to interview Service Providers and are asking to them to provide both a fiber optic and wireless solution. There have also been thirty eight access points provided for along the Trolley ROW. This will allow the fiber system to grow in any direction. Initially the fiber system will be available to businesses and residents along the Trolley ROW.
