This year, the School District of University City and the University City Police Department will join forces to host a joint Back-to-School Rally and National Night Out event from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7. at the McNair campus, 8136 Groby Road.

In the past, these two events have been separate, but we are combining them to bring the University City community together for one night of free immunizations, backpacks filled with school supplies and safety information among other offerings.

Volunteers are needed for two shifts to help with registration, activity check-in stations and other tasks. The district has extended the volunteer sign up deadline to 10 a.m. on Monday, July 23.
