U City Man in Ski Mask Robbed Quick Stop, Police Say
University City Police said the man entered the store without the mask, and a witness approaching the store saw the man flee the store without the mask.
A man is accused of robbing the M&A Quick Stop on Olive Boulevard in University City Saturday.
James E. Brown, 21, of the 6900 block of Melrose Avenue in University City, was charged Sunday with first-degree robbery.
University City Police said Brown entered the Quick Stop store at 6800 Olive Blvd. and the owner recognized him as a regular customer. Shortly afterward, he came to the counter wearing a ski mask, pointed a gun at the store owner and demanded money.
The owner gave him $300 to $400 and the man left the store. A witness saw him running from the store after taking off the ski mask.
Police said officers arrested Brown later that evening and he was wearing the same clothes described by the store owner.
The witness and the store owner identified Brown in a photo lineup, police said.
Brown was being held in St. Louis County jail on Wednesday. Bail was set at $50,000.
