MUSICAL SATURDAY AT THE LIBRARY

When/Where: Saturday 10:30am, University City Public Library. Why Go: Hear the story of "Berlioz the Bear" with a musical accompaniment, featuring St. Louis Symphony bassist, Sarah Hogan. Try out real musical instruments and receive a free book. Pricing: Free.

HONEYSUCKLE HACK

When/Where: Saturday 9:00am-12:00pm, Heman Park Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. Why Go: Help the community and spend a morning outside to boot. Join others in removing invasive bush honeysuckle from the banks of the River des Peres in Heman Park (in University City). Register online at www.riverdesperes.org or onsite at 7210 Olive Blvd. Gloves and hand tools will be provided to all volunteers. Peter Martin Concert to benefit Kids' Place!

When/Where: Saturday 8:00pm, 560 Music Center, 560 Trinity Ave. Why Go: Renowned jazz pianist Peter Martin will play a benefit event for Kids Place, Inc. COCA: DAN ZANE AND FRIENDS

When/Where: Friday (7:00 PM - 8:00 PM); Saturday (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM)  (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM); Sunday (1:30 PM - 2:30 PM) (3:30 PM - 4:30 PM), COCA (Center of Creative Arts) 524 Trinity Avenue. Why Go: His Dan Zanes and Friends' Catch That Train! won the 2007 Grammy for Best Musical Album for Children. Zanes' music has been described as possessing the raw spontaneity of early rock and roll, with elements of folk, and the soulfulness of West Indian music – appropriate for both big and little ears – relaxed and exciting at the same time. Pricing: Ticket prices range from $18 to $22.

COMMUNITY CONVERSATION ON CLIMATE CHANGE

When/Where: Saturday 10:00am (light snacks served at 9:30am), Saint Louis Science Center, Lower Level. Why Go: The Science Center and youths from the Youth Exploring Science (YES) program will host a community conversation on climate change that is open to all ages. The event includes: Panel lectures by climate change scientists; Climate change tabletop activities including Polar Bear Hopscotch, Carbon Footprint Survey, What’s for Lunch?, and What’s a Watt? Pricing: FREE, open to the community, but reservations are required.
