U City Schools Plan Kindergarten Open Houses, Chat with Superintendent

The School District of University City has several big events coming up in the next few weeks. It's time for parents of preschool-aged students to check out kindergarten.

The district also will hold an open discussion with Superintendent JoyLynn Pruitt and plans "Music in our Schools" day. 

The details for each event are as follows:

Fired Up for Kindergarten Open Houses 

The School District of University City will host its spring Fired Up for Kindergarten night at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28. This event provides parents of preschool-aged children the opportunity to tour the elementary school, learn about the kindergarten curriculum, meet principals and teachers and ask questions.

Fired Up sites for spring 2012 will include: 

• Barbara C. Jordan Elementary
• Flynn Park Elementary
• Jackson Park Elementary
• Pershing Elementary at the Nathaniel Hawthorne Building

Coversations with the Superintendent

The School District of University City will host the semi-annual Conversations with the Superintendent at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School.

Parents, staff and community members are invited to hear Superintendent Joylynn Pruitt's update on the state of the district and the great things happening in our schools.

Music in our Schools

Enjoy musical selections performed by all grade levels on Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. in the University City High School auditorium. The annual Music in Our Schools event will combine vocal and instrumental music and showcase the talents of University City students.

The event is free and open to the public.
