Restaurant Round-Up: 2013's Anticipated Openings

Check out what's coming to University City in the coming months.

A brand new year means brand new restaurants coming to University City and the Delmar Loop

Pita Pit is coming to 6120 Delmar, near Tavolo V in the East Loop. According to the restaurant's web site, the location is "coming soon." The menu includes breakfast, lunch and dinner pitas.

St. Louis Magazine recently named its 15 most anticipated restaurant openings of 2013 and University City has two very different restaurants on the list.

Mission Taco Joint

In the former Delmar Lounge, Milagro Modern Mexican owners Adam and Jason Tilford's new taqueria will serve tacos, craft beer and an array of tequilas and margaritas in a bodega setting.

Mission Taco is projected to open in late February.

Piccione Pastry

Piccione Pastry plans to specialize in authentic Italian, Old World style, Italian single-serve pastries and sweets. According to St. Louis Magazine, the store will be named after Grace Piccione, a longtime business owner in the Delmar Loop and the grandmother of owner Richard Nix of the Butler's Pantry.

Piccione Pastry is expected to open in late March.
