A new pizza restaurant is expected to open in the building at 7600 Wydown Boulevard that formerly housed Tip Top Cleaners.
A permit for the restaurant, called zpizza, gained approval from the Clayton Board of Aldermen during a meeting on Tuesday night. Owners Brent Miller and Bethany Yoder have both lived nearby on Meramec Avenue in Clayton for about a year, Miller said during the meeting.
"We had a ton of choices of where to put [the restaurant], but we love the area," Miller said.
The restaurant's menu, which is available online, offers vegan and gluten-free options. The more unexpected pizza ingredients include three types of mushrooms, zucchini, pine nuts, roasted eggplant and serrano chilies.
Zpizza also will serve pasta, sandwiches and salads.
The restaurant will have seating for 16 patrons inside and another 16 outside. Zpizza also will offer catering and delivery services.
Pizza deliveries will be provided by riders on electric bicycles, except in cases of bad weather, according to a city memo.
Zpizza, which originated in Southern California, has locations along the West Coast and East Coast, as well as Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Hawaii, Nevada and Texas.
