Motorcyclist Hit with Bottle, Threatened with Gun But Hangs onto Bike
University City Police said two men tried to rob the man of his motorcycle at Forest Park Parkway and Big Bend; one person has been charged.
Two men attempted to steal a motorcycle Tuesday at Forest Park Parkway and Big Bend Boulevard in University City. After one man displayed a handgun, the other struck the motorcyclist with a bottle and tried to take the bike, University City Police said in a report.
One suspect was arrested after the theft attempt on Tuesday.
Mondez Purvey, 20, of the 900 block of Laurel Avenue in St. Louis, was charged with first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action. According to the police report, Purvey hit the victim with the bottle and another man had the handgun.
Bond for Purvey was set at $50,000. He is being held in St. Ann jail.
