Mayor Declares Saturday, Sept. 24 'Jeanne Trevor Day' in U City

The first annual U City Jazz Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Heman Park in University City.

In recognition of Saturday's first annual U City Jazz Festival, Mayor Shelley Welsch has issued an official Proclamation declaring Saturday, September 24, Jeanne Trevor Day in University City.

Trevor is often referred to as St. Louis’ first lady of jazz. She's performing at at .

“The date of the Jazz Festival was the perfect day to commemorate Jeanne Trevor,” said Welsch. Trevor was a frequent performer at Brandt's Cafe in the Loop. "To our city, she is an inspiration and a legend," added Welsch.

The proclamation reads; "to acknowledge University City’s cultural richness, and to also recognize Jeanne Trevor for her professional accomplishments that have enriched the lives of many who love jazz; I hereby proclaim Saturday, September 24, 2011 as Jeanne Trevor Day in the City of University City."
