Man Fleeing U City Police Hit Car in Clayton
University City Police were investigating a theft when they tried to stop suspect.
A Jennings man is being charged with resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident in University City March 4.
University City Police tried to stop George Lowery, 26, of the 4200 block of Jennings Station Road, while investigating a theft on Delmar Boulevard, but he did not stop, according to a police report.
Instead, Lowery led them on a chase into Clayton, where he ran a red light at Meramec and Forsythe boulevards, striking another vehicle, the University City Police report states. The other car’s driver suffered a broken ankle.
Lowery fled on foot, but was arrested by Clayton Police. Witnesses identified Lowery as the driver of the vehicle that ran the red light, the University City report states.
