Get Ready for a Taste of U City Tonight
More than 30 business are expected to participate in tonight's Chamber event.
Some of the best eats in University City will all be in one place tonight for the University City Chamber of Commerce's inaugeral Taste of U City.
The event is slated from 4:30-7 p.m. at the 560 Music Center. Attendees will be able to try samples of food and alcoholic beverages from more than 30 local businesses. In addition to the food and drink, door prizes and raffle items will be up for grabs.
"I describe it as a happy hour on steroids," University City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ellen Bern said. "It's a fun, family-friendly community event."
Bern said the goal is to help people try places they may have been interested in but have not yet had the chance to visit, or discover previously unknown favorites. It's also something Bern hopes will become an annual event put on by the chamber, which itself met for the first time in November of 2011.
"It's a great way to support your local businesses," she said.
Tickets are $15, or two for $25 if purchased in advance. Children get in for half price. Tickets can be purchased at the University City Public Library or online at the chamber's website.
