Things to do in and around University City.

Looking for something to do this weekend in and around University City? Look no further—Patch has you covered!

Friday, Nov. 16

  • 10 a.m. — Steinberg Ice Rink in Forest Park opens for the season. The rink is open every day from 10 am. 9 p.m. with extended hours on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday Nov. 17

  • 7 p.m. — A Night at the Casino, the University City Chamber of Commerce event, will be held at Heman Park Community Center.

Sunday, Nov. 17

  • 1 p.m. — Jean Ellen Whatley at the Humane Society of Missouri. St. Louis journalist and author Jean Ellen Whatley, will be giving a multi-media talk and signing copies of her memoir, Off the Leash, at the Macklind location of the Humane Society of Missouri; the same place where the author first set eyes on the irresistible golden-red puppy, who would become her muse, her canine traveling companion, confidant, and comic relief. Whatley's blog-to-book chronicles the writer's 8,600 mile journey to reconnect with every person and place she had ever loved. Along the way, she observed life lessons from her dog. Subterranean Books is the official bookstore partner for the event, with 10 percent of sales that day going to the Humane Society's adoption efforts.

All Weekend

  • Winter Wonderwalk — Experience the holiday lights of Tilles Park before the park opens to vehicle traffic. Walk through the lights on Saturday or Sunday night.
