Football Team Helps Prepare for Back to School Rally
The team prepared goody bags for students that attend the Aug. 7 rally.
Being part of a team is more than just what happens on the field. It's also about giving back to your community.
Coach Carl Reed's University City High School football team did just that on Friday, giving their time to stuff 750 goodie bags for the Back to School Rally on Aug. 7.

The team stuffed the bags with pencils, crayons, notebooks and other goodies for School District of University City students.
This year, the School District of University City and the University City Police Department will join forces for the Back-to-School rally and National Night Out celebration.
The event will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Ronald McNair Administration Building on Groby Road.
University City students, parents and community members are welcome to join this free community wide event.
"We're looking forward to another great Back-to-School Rally this year," said Joylynn Pruitt, superintendent of schools. "There's always such an air of excitement at the rally, and this year, we are excited to offer even more to participants because of the partnership between the city and district."

The football players also delivered personal invitations to the rally in my neighborhood last Saturday. It was uplifting to see the young men working for the betterment of the schools! Go Lions and Coach Reed!
