A 19-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed Friday night in University City.

According to the University City Police Department, at approximately 11:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, officers and medical personnel responded to the 7500 block of Delmar Blvd.

The bicyclist has been identified as Samuel Scott, 19, of the 7400 block of Delmar.

Scott was taken by paramedics to an area hospital for treatment, where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the striking vehicle, a 29-year-old female, remained at the scene with the victim until police arrived. She was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. 

The investigation into the incident continues and the case will be presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for consideration.
