Crowds filled the streets around the School District of University City's Ronald E. McNair Administration Building Tuesday night for the first joint back to school/National Night Out rally.
The event was a joint effort between the School District and the University City Police Department.
The rally incorporated free hair cuts, backpacks filled with school supplies, enrollment information, fun/educational activities and information about community organizations.
The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 22.
