Dorothea Dottie F. Smith passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 after an extended illness.
Beloved wife for 60 years of Philip E. Smith; dearest mother of Steven Robert Smith (Rio Montesclaros) and Charlene Adrienne Armilio (Frank M. Armilio); dear grandmother of Adrienne Marie and Angela Renee Elfrink; dear aunt and great-aunt.
Mrs. Smith had taught French and Spanish for over 40 years at University City Junior High School and St. Louis Community College. She was the published author of novels and numerous newspaper articles.
Services: The Funeral Service will be conducted at THE LUPTON CHAPEL, 7233 Delmar Blvd., University City, on Saturday, June 18 at 3 p.m. Services conclude at the Chapel.
Memorials appreciated to the American Cancer Society or to University United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at THE LUPTON CHAPEL on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

I am saddened by this news, and sorry that it did not go out until the day after the Friday night vigil and the day of the midday service. Mrs. Smith was one of my French teachers at Hanley Junior High School [University City then had two junior high schools, Hanley and Brittany Woods.] My condolences to her family.
