As co-chair of the upcoming alcohol-free celebration for UCHS Graduating Seniors next Tuesday, May 29, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., we have been asking for and receiving donations from many of our community’s businesses.

These gift/donations will be used to provide raffle items and attendance prizes for the teens that evening amidst their other activities of swimming, dancing, basketball, and playing casino games with magician/Houdini acts, face-painting/temporary tattoos, photobooth and a variety of food/drink available all night as well.

This well-chaperoned and secure event is a great opportunity to highlight local businesses and support our grads as they head off to college and their adult life.

So far, the items received are gift cards, gas cards, a 32” TV, dorm fridge, microwave, iPod Touch, dorm bedding, alarm clocks, desk lamps and a Kindle.

We are hoping for a gift/prize for each attendee and are still a bit shy. We’d love to have a laptop as the grand prize, and could use some additional gas and food cards as well as laundry supplies, or other dorm-related needs.

By thanking the businesses who have donated, we might be able to jog a few others into supporting our community’s brightest and best teens!
